About Us

Nazihar Energy is well positioned to help lead global markets towards a clean energy future, with the in-house expertise to develop, engineer, construct, and operate renewable energy projects. We are at the forefront of efforts to move towards sustainable energy policies in Bangladesh, that will support continued investment in renewables, economic development, and job creation.

Our mission is to develop a strong and prosperous clean energy industry through forward thinking and reducing the negative impacts on nature and the environment whilst improving the lives of our employees and the communities we work in.

Nazihar Group has strong relationships with International multilateral and commercial lenders and funds from Europe, US and the Middle East. On the EPC side, we have established relationships with major Chinese and European EPC contractors. For solar equipment supply, we have strong connections with first-tier solar panel manufacturers from China  and US.

We are able to assist in either an advisory or project management role, we provide an extensive and tailored service for organizations looking to undertake a solar project of any scale, either for utility or commercial and industrial customers.

Energy Opportunites in Bangladesh

Bangladesh has a mere amount of nonrenewable resources of its own. To meet the growing energy need of the country, major portion of the fossil fuel consumed has to be imported from abroad. Among the indigenous fuel resources, the country has become increasingly dependent on Natural Gas. The structure of the energy consumption over the years has got to be ‘MonoFuel’ dependent. With the looming exhaustibility of the nonrenewable energy sources and the rapidly growing energy demand, the policy-makers of the country in various policies and institutional arrangements have shifted their focus to renewable energy sources. It is expected that the renewable energy options like solar power, wind power, hydro-power, and biomass will be essentially useful to increase the accessibility to energy and power for all the socio-economic sections of the country.

Bangladesh has good potential for harnessing renewable energy sources such as solar, biomass, wind, and mini-hydropower. The annual solar radiation availability in Bangladesh is as high as 1700 kWh/m2. The country has been experiencing a gradual shift towards exploring renewable energy resources as a driving force for rural development. A few public sector and non-government organizations have started to develop renewable energy technology (RET) projects in rural areas. The lessons learnt from different demonstrations of RET projects reveal that with careful forward planning renewable energy can provide far-reaching economic, environmental, and social benefits to people living in remote rural areas in Bangladesh.

The government’s vision of electrifying the entire country by 2020 through grid expansion is not realistic due to inaccessibility and low consumer density in many rural areas, as well as financial constraints. To reach the government’s vision of universal electrification, renewable energy sources, in particular, solar energy will have to play a vital role for off-grid electrification as well as contributing towards grid based consumption.

Within the reach of the national grid Bangladesh is still reeling under 600 – 1200 MW of ‘load-shedding’. A situation which deteriorates during irrigation seasons, when the demand-supply gap reaches up to 1500 MW. Domestic and industrial sectors consume about 43% and 44% electrical energy respectively, i.e. a total of about 87% of power consumption occurs in these two sectors. Out of this, a large part of electrical energy is consumed for lighting.

Our Role

Nazihar Energy recognises the challenges facing the implementation of renewable energy from the lack of available knowledge and expertise, through to financing. As an NGO (non-government organisation) with a strong track record with government-affiliated schemes and development, we have the experience and influence to propel the vision of a greener Bangladesh forward.

As part of our PEAP by Hemtech initiative, we are attempting to create awareness from a manufactural standpoint. This ties in with our role of implementing projects on a much larger scale with Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Technology, Grid Scale Energy Storage and Green Transmission Corridor. We have the capabilities to develop, construct, operate, and optimise the operation of these technologies. Our experience covers both utility-scale, centralised energy solar farms and distribution solutions.
